Enterprise WordPress Engineering, Technical Leadership, Automation Architecture, Custom Plugin Development
At NielsenIQ, I worked as a Senior Software Developer and lead WordPress engineer contributing to the development and maintenance of multiple enterprise WordPress sites hosted on WordPress VIP infrastructure. My role focused on building custom platform functionality, developing automation scripts, improving editorial workflows, and supporting reliable deployments across DEV, QA, and Production environments. This included building and maintaining custom themes using the Roots Sage framework, working within its build pipeline powered by Webpack, NPM, and Blade templating.
Working closely with marketing, stakeholders, and the development team, I participated in an Agile development environment that included sprint planning, development discussions and regular code reviews. Whenever new features were being considered, I led the development side of early planning discussions, helping assess feasibility, shape the overall approach, and define how the work could be structured. I was also responsible for reviewing pull requests, mentoring newer developers, and ensuring consistent deployment quality across weekly release cycles.
Enterprise Content Automation (WP-CLI)
I developed custom PHP-based WP-CLI scripts to support large-scale content migrations involving thousands of posts, automating the import process while handling complex edge cases. I also created scripts to generate stakeholder reports by querying structured content programmatically. These tools significantly reduced manual effort, improved reliability during migration workflows, and allowed the team to focus on higher-value work.
Custom Platform & Editor Enhancements
As part of the development team, I helped build and maintain custom WordPress plugins designed to extend platform functionality and improve the content publishing experience across multiple sites within the organization. This included WooCommerce integrations for the NIQ Shop site, Gutenberg and ACF-based custom blocks, reusable block patterns, and editor enhancements that guided content editors toward consistent, on-brand publishing. All work was written to WordPress VIP standards with a focus on clean, maintainable PHP.
Technical Leadership & Deployment Ownership
Beyond development, I played a central role in sprint planning and architectural decision-making. I contributed to weekly code review sessions, reviewed and approved GitHub pull requests, and oversaw production deployments to ensure environment parity across DEV, QA, and Production on WP VIP.
Performance & Reliability
Site performance was an ongoing priority across our WordPress VIP properties. I implemented custom caching strategies and cache invalidation logic to improve page speed and reduce server load, contributing to a more reliable experience for users across high-traffic pages.
